Ashfield M&E expands student placement scheme

Leicestershire-based event management agency Ashfield Meetings & Events, is gearing up for its annual university placement scheme’s assessment centre.

Since the launch of the scheme that has seen Ashfield assess close to 50 students annually, the initiative has been expanded from targeting just event management degree students to include multimedia and creative design degree students.

The assessment centre this year takes place 2 May at the company’s UK headquarters in Ashby De La Zouch. It consists of individual presentations, group exercises, a company overview, a question and answer session with existing agency staff and IT tests. The successful undergraduates will be offered a year-long work placement as part of their degree course.

The current scheme has six students already placed in the UK office.

Ashfield Operational Excellence Director Helen Capelin manages the programme and says: “As we approach the end of our second successful year of running this highly effective scheme, it has attracted more interest. The students are benefitting from on the job training, allowing them to transfer theory from the classroom.”
