Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has launched a new half-day event, MPI Connects, which has been designed to bring together industry employers and jobseekers.
MPI Connects will, according to MPI, combine education with speed-dating style meetings, to enable industry jobseekers to understand more about potential positions or internships, and for employers to give guidance on interviewing skills as well as how to secure a first job.
Ashfield Meetings & Events, Grass Roots, CWT Meetings and Events, Capita Travel & Events and Zibrant agencies have already signed up to take part in the event on 12 May in Central London. It is anticipated that 50 agency/corporate planners will take part as industry recruiters plus 150 students and jobseekers.
The day will also feature the MPI Young Achievers Award (YAA), sponsored by the Switzerland Convention Bureau. The competition invites teams of event management students representing leading universities to pitch their solutions to the Swiss brief. The winning team will be selected on the evening by a panel of judges with the winners awarded a trip to Switzerland.
“MPI has a mission to make members more successful in their chosen fields and our activity in 2014 will focus on developing industry talent through accreditation, learning and mentoring,” said Jane Baker, VP of Education and MPI UK and Ireland and Commercial Director UK at CWT Meetings and Events. “For students, this means supporting their transition from full time education into the varied set of careers offered across the industry.”
