The Mermaid in rude health for events

The Mermaid Conference and Events Centre in London has revealed a 71 per cent increase in bookings by healthcare companies last year.

Twelve per cent of the 299 events delivered in 2013 were booked by healthcare clients compared with four per cent the previous year. Conferences dominate the upsurge in bookings at the venue, particularly multiple-day events, according to the centre’s management.

The total number of events at The Mermaid increased by 14 per cent in 2013, representing a 37 per cent revenue boost and a growth in profit of 93 per cent compared with the previous year.

Alicia Duncan, General Manager at The Mermaid, said: “We strive to provide a one-stop solution for event planners, with all services under one roof, because we know this is of great importance to our clients, particularly in the healthcare sector.

“By employing and nurturing a strong sales team with a focused sales-and-marketing execution, we have attracted a range of new clients over the past year, significantly increasing profit. We aim to further increase this business growth during the coming year.”

The Mermaid offers full audiovisual and catering services in-house and has worked with event caterers Create Food and Party Design since 2011.
