TFI Group is looking to bolster its pharma channel team with business in the sector running ahead of plan. The London-based agency is also looking to add to its in-house services.
The channel specialises in product launches, adboards, internal communication events, investigator meetings and congresses around the world and not least in a number of developing countries. Clients include not only pharma companies, but also animal healthcare and biotechnology businesses.
Sean McGrath has been brought in to head the TFI Production Department servicing the pharma channel in its delivery of event and exhibition production, and has been involved in four major projects in the UK and overseas within a month of joining.
Prior to TFI, McGrath was at Lodestar (in which TFI has a shareholding interest) and, prior to that, Bang Media.
“TFI is really exciting,” McGrath says. “The business is a full service events agency now and clients are discussing how we can assist with overall communications strategy, as well, of course, as specific areas of delivery.”
Simon Maier (pictured), TFI’s Group Development Director, says the agency is set to open a new TFI Singapore office at the end of April.
“This is a fully operational base and will initially service our pharma clients. We already have some good business in the region, so we’ll hit the ground running.”
Maier says the pace of the agency’s growth has required “looking now for a big hitter in the UK to lead the Group’s pharma channel in its next stage of development and we have an initial shortlist”.
“We’re also adding resource to our base in Edinburgh to service both pharma work and also some of our TFI Meeting Point association conference activity,” he adds. “Laura Milne, one of our Senior Project Managers, has already moved to Edinburgh to help manage our growth there.”
Maier says TFI’s new Event Technology unit is focused on pharma work. “This includes products such as event apps, live audience interaction and social networking platforms, which are just a part of a whole range of branded technology products planned for launch over the next 24 months.”
Going through the pharma outdoor is Dom Bemrose, hitherto Director of TFI Pharma, who leaves TFI at the end of April.
Maier paid tribute to Bemrose and says, pending a replacement, Rob Roffey who used to run TFI Pharma and is now the Group Director of Account Management, will be taking on the duties.
