During National Apprenticeship Week 2014, employee solutions and event management agency Grass Roots will run its Apprenticeship Scheme, with recruitment events planned at several schools. The Group says it is creating opportunities for work as the scheme rolls out beyond the Tring HQ offices.
The programme will see roles made available to apprentices at the company’s four divisions: Employee Solutions, Customer Engagement, Promotions and Incentives and Meetings and Events.
Grass Roots designed its Apprentice Scheme four years ago to source talented young people and support them through a fast track development programme.
During this time, 12 apprenticeships have been offered, each leading to securing a full-time position within the company.
Dave Sweeney, a Senior Designer in the Grass Roots Creative Studio, says: “Having these talented and enthusiastic individuals coming into our team has energised us all. All the apprentices we have taken on are passionate and quick to learn new skills ’on the job’. We’re thrilled to be able to offer these opportunities and look forward to welcoming more young people soon.”
Gemma Dalton, a Junior Artworker apprentice, has been with the company for a year and says: “I am thoroughly enjoying myself. I’m developing my skills and have been made to feel so welcome by my colleagues.”
Trish Breen (pictured), HR Business Partner, runs the scheme and says: “It is a pleasure to watch these fantastic young apprentices growing into their own full-time positions. They are adding value across the business and we have had excellent feedback from all the line managers that have taken them on.”
Grass Roots in the UK has been listed in the 2014 Sunday Times list of Best 100 companies to work for. Another company in the sector winning a place in the Sunday Times list for 2014 is conference venue Wyboston Lakes.
The Bedfordshire-based venue has over 280 employees and is the only specialist conference and training provider to have won a place in this year’s ST ‘Top 100’ rankings.
