Staycity broadcasts its serviced apartment message on Sky

The Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP) has welcomed the broadcast of the first TV advert from one of it’s largest operator members – Staycity. The broadcast, on 22 February, was part of a new campaign.

The advert went out on Sky TV and the campaign will run four times a year in the UK.

James Foice (pictured), Managing Director of the ASAP, said Staycity’s first TV advertising campaign represented “a breakthrough moment for our sector. One of our key challenges is educating both the leisure and corporate traveller about the many benefits of using serviced apartments and TV is the perfect medium to explain these benefits clearly to a much wider audience. It is fantastic to see the success of the Staycity brand across Europe and its growth plans for the next five years are further evidence of the growing popularity of our sector. 2014 is an exciting year for our sector with over 20 per cent of our 73 members opening new properties in the UK”.

Staycity has 1,000 apartments across eight European cities: Dublin, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Paris and Amsterdam and aims to open a further 370 new apartments this year, starting with 161 purpose-built apartments in Greenwich, followed by 66 in Venice in August and a further 144 in Lyon in October.

Further investment in new sites over the next five years will take the Staycity estate to 5,000 apartments.

MD Jason Delany believes the serviced apartment and office sector has previously been very much under the radar and hopes the advertising campaign will help move it into the mainstream.

“The advert aims to educate guests about the key advantages of a serviced apartment over a hotel room, such as a living area with fitted kitchen, additional space and flexibility with additional services such as 24-hour reception and complimentary Wi-Fi.”
