Millbrook appoints new CEO

Alex Burns has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Millbrook Proving Ground.

The appointment, “with immediate effect” was announced in a letter from company Chairman John Notman-Watt dated 12 February.

Burns says he is “delighted to be joining Millbrook at such an interesting time. The recent change of ownership represents a great opportunity. I look forward to working with the whole team at Millbrook and providing industry leading services and capabilities to our customers.”

Established in 1969, Millbrook in Bedfordshire is one of Europe’s leading test and engineering solution providers for the automotive, energy and defence markets.

The business owns a 665-acre site which includes several venue spaces, clustered under the Millbrook Venues brand, that host a full programme of indoor and outdoor events.

The change in leadership follows the purchase of Millbrook from General Motors at the end of last year by Rutland Partners.

Millbrook’s former Chief Executive Miguel Fragoso left the company effective 31 January 2014 to pursue other interests.

Fragoso had been with the company for nearly five years.

A Board statement said: “The Board thanks Mr Fragoso for his contribution to the business over the past years, and wishes him well in his future endeavours”.

Kevin Leaver, Head of Events at Millbrook Venues, tells CN:  “With our new owners Rutland Partners and Millbrook’s new CEO, Alex Burns, now on board, Millbrook Venues is looking forward to exciting times with new opportunities and future investment in our venues and facilities.”
