Property consultant GVA is looking for new buyers for the Warwickshire Freemason’s Clarendon Suites conference centre in Edgbaston, Birmingham, which is due to close on Valentine’s Day with the loss of 60 jobs.
The conference centre on the Hagley Road had already seen its catering operation liquidated by insolvency group Baker Tilly.
GVA said it was considering both wholly unconditional offers for the site as well as conditional offers – subject to planning – for the wholesale redevelopment of the plot.
The site could be lost to conferencing, however. Mark Birks from GVA told the Birmingham Mail newspaper: “The site is enhanced by a resolution for residential planning consent for 84 residential units granted last year which establishes some interesting principles in terms of layout and massing.”
David Macey (pictured), from the Edgbaston Masonic Temple, said: “The Hagley Road site is too large for our requirements. We are now looking for either new or refurbished space.”
