Surrey County Cricket Club has renewed its contract with catering group Compass Group UK & Ireland for a further five years, a decade after embarking on the joint catering venture.
The five-year extension will see the partnership run at the Kia Oval international cricket ground until 2021 and is worth an expected £50m in turnover.
Under the deal, Levy Restaurants, Compass’s sport, leisure and hospitality sector UK & Ireland brand, will continue to deliver food and beverages, retail services and conferencing and events facilities at the venue on both match and non match days. At the same time, corporate hospitality provider Keith Prowse, which is part of Levy Restaurants, will continue to sell and deliver match day hospitality.
Compass, through the joint venture, has delivered all food and hospitality services to the 250,000 cricket fans and event delegates that visit the Kia Oval each year since 2004. During this time event bookings for non match days are reported to have risen by 50 per cent.
“The pursuit of excellence in customer service and delivering outstanding experiences is core to our ethos and our joint venture with Surrey County Cricket Club is a testimony of this,” says Colin Bailey, MD for Levy Restaurants, Compass Group UK & Ireland’s sports, leisure and hospitality business. “We’ve worked hard to forge an excellent relationship together over the past 10 years and I’m excited about what the future holds for the Kia Oval.”
