Wellcome Collection appoints new Commercial Development Manager

London conference and event venue, Wellcome Collection, has appointed Melanie Stacey as Commercial Development Manager as the venue moves further into its £17.5m renovation.

Stacey joins the events team from the Whitechapel Gallery in London, where she managed the delivery of profits across all revenue streams from the Gallery’s commercial activities.

Stacey’s new role will see her oversee the commercial development of Wellcome Collection, leading and developing the conference centre business. She will also be responsible for the management and development of the retail and merchandise operations, and manage relations with the contracted external partners for catering and the on-site shop.

The appointment comes as Daniel Caleb, previously Sales and Marketing Manager at Wellcome Collection, becomes Event Spaces Manager. Caleb, who recently celebrated his 7th year at the venue, will now focus on budgeting and operations.

Stacey says: “I am delighted to be joining Wellcome Collection at such a key point in its development, and look forward to contributing to its growth through a period of dramatic change. In particular I am excited to be working closely with Dan Caleb and his highly experienced events team on the significant improvements and changes to our conference centre and events spaces which launch in Spring 2014.”
