Venuemasters conference focuses on ’the power of communication’

Academic venue consortium Venuemasters’ recent annual conference based around the theme of ’how to influence through the power of communication’ was attended by 116 delegates from over 40 academic venues.

Held at Conference Aston, which recently underwent a £5.4m re-development and expansion, the conference featured workshops and keynote presentations.

Venuemasters Chair Vanessa Gouws welcomed delegates and Chris Hughes motivated the group with some practical techniques to overcome challenges and create solutions. Speaker Geoff Ramm took delegates on a high-speed trip around the globe to observe some of the world’s greatest marketing ideas.

The conference was brought to a close by the first female controller of BBC One, Lorraine Heggessey, who brought to life important elements of business including managing talent and moving outside of your comfort zone to implement change.

Interactive and informative sessions covered topics including tried and trusted ways of promoting your venue online, social communications that support long term sales results, producing accurate proposals and understanding the latest industry research.

“It’s always great to see so many delegates from different academic venues come together to network and share best practice,” said Marketing and Membership Manager, Natalie Hudson. “Feedback has been extremely positive with 89 per cent of those that attended rating the overall content as outstanding.”
