The Royal Society appoints new Head of Conference Services

The UK’s national academy of science and event space, The Royal Society, has promoted Nicholas da Costa to Head of Conference Services.

Over the last year da Costa has overseen more than 3,500 events at the venue and has pushed annual revenue from events to over £3.5m.

Events that have taken place at the venue in the past year include hosting the inaugural public appearance of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge following the birth of their son, and hosting the black-tie soirées for the Society’s annual Summer Science Exhibition.

Prior to joining The Royal Society, da Costa held positions at Compass Group, the University of Birmingham and at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna.

“These are exciting times for the Royal Society and it is a privilege to work surrounded by some of the finest minds in the world. We have enjoyed great success recently and I am sure we will go onto even bigger and better things,” said da Costa.
