Sage Gateshead claims rise in corporate event bookings

Sage Gateshead, a centre for musical education, performance and conferences located on the south bank of the River Tyne, claims its year-on-year conference and events enquiries have tripled between July and December 2013.
Management says the venue received 217 corporate events enquiries in the last six months of 2013, compared to 69 in the same period of 2012.
The rise in corporate bookings at the venue has also increased Sage’s ability to fund sustainably its music work in the regional community.
“Our commercial efforts were affected by the economic recession at the same time that funding was dropping off and people had less money in their pockets to support causes they believe in,” said Head of Conference and Events at Sage Gateshead, Anna Eyres. “We remain enormously grateful for all the grants and donations received during recent times.
“The conference and events industry has seen a lot of change with the digitisation of information and media and the fact that we have kept up with the pace of change and are embracing new ways of enhancing the delegate experience has stood us in good stead.”
