How to choose a menu for your next event

A perfectly executed menu can be the cherry on top of a carefully
prepared event. Follow these tips to ensure your menu choices elevate
your event to the level you have worked hard to achieve.

1. Be clever with cost

Try
negotiating a better food and beverage package as a value-add. For
high-profile client events, discuss a better price in exchange for
showcasing the venue to your attendees

2. Match the menu to the theme

This
helps ensure a consistent experience and underlines your event
objectives eg: BBQ’d meats with chimichurri could link with a company’s
expansion into South America

3. What ‘tis the season?

Filling,
warming foods suit a winter event, while lighter dishes are ideal for
sunnier weather. Choosing produce that’s in-season will keep costs low
an flavours high.

4. Bowl food or banquet?

Ensure
the way that food is presented matches the style of your event. A
sit-down meal suits a meeting with clients, while bowl food would match a
relaxed summer party.

5. Take the sustainable route

Reduce
food waste (and cost!) by ordering fewer portions than people. Also,
use local suppliers and produce to cut down on the amount of miles your
food has travelled.

6. Consider dietary requirements

Many
delegates are more aware of dietary requirements nowadays. If it’s not
possible to request individual menu choices before an event, provide
options.
