Burns Night at the Museum

Two hundred and thirty guests enjoyed the annual Scottish Exhibition Conference Centre Glasgow (SECC) Burns Supper at the Natural History Museum in London, 23 January. Guests were welcomed with a drinks reception before being led by bagpipes for a four course dinner in the Central Hall, where they enjoyed traditional Scottish dishes including haggis.

The address to the haggis was given by Stuart Hendry of Glengoyne Distillery, which provided whisky for the toasts. SECC Chairman, Will Whitehorn, Ben Goedegebuure, outgoing Director of Sales and John Sharkey, CEO, also gave passionate speeches.

With a big sporting year ahead for Glasgow as hosts of the XX Commonwealth Games, Olympic swimmer David Carry gave the traditional ’Toast to the Lassies’ before a lively response was given from former Scottish badminton player Susan Egelstaff.
