Following last year’s successful campaign, the International Special Events Society (ISES) UK Chapter and Tourism Ireland have kicked off their experiential #TweeTour in Dublin (14 November), the first of three live Twitter tours taking place across the Emerald Isle this month.
The three familiarisation trips will be taking place on consecutive weeks throughout November in Dublin, Galway and Derry. Tweets between delegates and local businesses will form the content and experience as the trips progress live on Twitter.
During the all expenses paid trips, delegates will experience all that Ireland has to offer the events industry, and treated to whistle stop tours of well-known established venues including Convention Centre Dublin, historical stops Cliff Townhouse for Oyster shucking and Galway’s Claregalway Castle, while uncovering some of the up and coming event spaces and facilities such as City Hotel Derry and its new 7th Floor suites.
This year’s tour dates will take place in:
Dublin – 14 and 15 November
Galway – 21 and 22 November
Derry – 28 and 29 November.
“Following last year’s success we were keen to host TweeTours again, Ireland has so much to offer creative event delegates that we are exploring the slightly more untouched destinations of Galway and Derry,” says Jane Hague, ISES UK President and Head of Corporate Account Development at Excel London. “This is a great hybrid event which will give everyone on the trip as well as those following at home a real-time taste of the unique event sector in Ireland.”
David Boyce, Head of Business and Sports Tourism Great Britain for Tourism Ireland, adds: “We are keen to embrace innovative ways of communication, these TweeTours allow delegates and visitors a unique opportunity to interact and experience our destination. We look forward to welcoming the creative delegations alongside ISES and giving them an exclusive experience of Ireland.”
