Lee Thomas has launched an event staffing website, link2staff.com, aimed at the exhibition and events industry.
Thomas says the website puts budget sensitive businesses and available staff in direct contact with one another to make finding the right people quick, easy and hassle-free.
Thomas had the idea 18 months ago and is now targeting the company towards a different sector of the market to her current business and will focus on the exhibition, marketing and sampling industries.
Since conceiving the idea, Thomas developed her plan before contracting IT software specialist Arquila to build and code the system which will allow industry professionals to find the type of staff they are looking for anywhere in the world by setting a series of criteria online which match against staff details.
More than 4,500 events staff, including hosts, hostesses, models, drivers and artists, have already signed up to the system and have included their availability, skills and working criteria, such as pay rate.
Businesses can now sign in when they need staff for events. They set the criteria they need and the budget they have, and the system will find the right available staff for them to choose from.
The system will also take payment and pay the staff on behalf of the client once the job has been completed.
“So much of our everyday lives and our business is now done via the web,” says Thomas. “We look for houses, we shop, we download our music – but there wasn’t a system for finding event staff in this way that also took care of payments and had a rating system.
“The idea was to open it up to staff first to register and we have been delighted with the numbers so far with more than 4,500 registering their details with us.”
Link2staff.com will be launched at Excel London across three shows – the Digital Marketing Show, BETT 2014 and ICE 2014.
