BVEP welcomed by Northern Ireland Minister

Representatives of the Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP) were welcomed to Northern Ireland last week by the Northern Ireland Minister and Local Party representative for Derry-Londonderry, Mark Durkan MLA.
The partnership meeting was hosted by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) and the delegation was given exclusive tours of some of the key new event spaces opening up in the destination, including The Titanic Quarter in Belfast, and a walking tour of Derry-Londonderry, where Durkan joined the delegation.
“Everyone in the partnership was overwhelmed by the warmth and hospitality of the people we met during our stay in Northern Ireland,” says Vice Chair of the BVEP, Chris Skeith. “This is a destination that really gets business tourism; it has an amazing sell and a brilliant product bought to life by passionate people.
“For a senior Minister such as Mark to join us was both an honour and a sign of how important this industry is to the destination.”
NITB Business-to-Business Manager, Willie Lougheed, added: “Business tourism is a key area for the NITB, we have an outstanding events product here, through our destinations, major venues, our heritage and our contemporary developments. Most of all though we have a population that provides a warm welcome to visitors and that appreciate the value of major events.”
Durkan officially welcomed and thanked the BVEP delegation for taking the time to visit Derry-Londonderry in a formal dinner in the city.
The BVEP is the umbrella organisation for the UK events industry, representing leading trade and professional associations within the business visits and events sector.
