London events venue, The Barbican, has strengthened its Business Events team with the promotion of Oliver Hargreaves to the position of Business Development Manager and the appointment of Nia Edwards as Business Events Executive.
Hargreaves joined the Barbican team in 2010 as an Account Executive, having gained a degree in Events Management with Marketing Management from the University of Gloucestershire. In his new role, he will focus on the development of corporate accounts, associations, event organisers and proactive sales within the conference and event markets.
Edwards joined the team as a Business Events and Sales Intern earlier this year and has now taken up a full time role supporting the Business Events Sales and Event management teams.
The appointments are part of Barbican’s ongoing strategy, which has also included extensive refurbishment and investment in technology.
Earlier this year, The Barbican announced that the 2012/13 financial year was its most successful to date with the year four per cent above average and 23 per cent above 2011/12 figures.
“Our strategy for future growth has been paying dividends,” says Head of Sales for Barbican Business Events, Samme Allen. “Oliver’s promotion comes at a key time when the Barbican is launching new spaces and initiatives. His knowledge and experience of the Centre will ensure we continue to develop new business in our target areas. Nia has also been a real benefit to the team, her energy and enthusiasm has been commented on by a host of clients and we are delighted she is joining as a full time member of the team.”
