London’s Church House to host miaList 2014 lunch

Nominations for the Meeting Industry Association’s (mia) miaList 2014 have opened, as the association reveals Church House Conference Centre in Westminster will be the host venue for the Celebratory Lunch when the awards will be given out.

The event is to take place on the same day as the 24th mia AGM on 7 April 2014.

The mia-List is a mia initiative which enables the industry to recognise the commitment and hard work of its people and is open to all sectors of the industry.

The message this year from the association is: “Use the miaList to say thank you to the individuals that really do make a difference to your business, to you and to your customers, so ditch the teddy, forget the flowers, cancel the vouchers and use the miaList as a brilliant and very public way to say ‘thank you’.”

The miaList is determined by a process of nomination and independent judging. Nominations can be made at and close on 31 October 2013.

Judges will then choose the 10 most outstanding people; the miaList 2014.

The mia expects over 200 industry professionals to attend the 2014 Celebratory Lunch and expects the 2014, fourth edition, to be the biggest yet.

Andrew Mosley, GM of The Grand Brighton and miaList Committee Chair, says: “The miaList is an opportunity to recognise those people within the meetings and events industry whose approach to their profession is outstanding, and we like to show them off in an outstanding venue. Church House has an enviable reputation and we look forward to revealing the miaList 2014 in such a high quality AIM venue.”

Robin Parker, GM at Church House Conference Centre, says: “The mia is fundamental to the success of the UK meetings and events industry. In particular, it has done a great deal to professionalise venues through the establishment and growth of its highly successful AIM standard.  It brings together key organisations from across the country in a forum that creates open communication and growth. We are delighted to be hosting such a prestigious event and look forward to welcoming all who attend.”
