Jurys Inn Edinburgh appoints new GM

David Shiels has joined the Jurys Inn Edinburgh as GM, leading a team of 80 staff.

The hotel, located in the Old Town district of Edinburgh, consists of 186 bedrooms and five dedicated meeting rooms.

Shiels joins the hotel from Jurys Inn Southampton, where he was also GM. He joined the chain five years ago as Deputy GM for Jurys Inn Glasgow.

“I have hit the ground running, having started the role in the middle of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival,” says Shiels. “The location of the hotel on Jeffery Street in the Old Town makes it an ideal base to explore this great historical and cultural city.”

Jurys Inn introduced an enhanced management training programme in 2011 as part of the company’s continued commitment to engaging and retaining valued employees, as well as attracting fresh new talent. Jurys Inn has been awarded Gold Standard by Investors in People, in recognition of its consistent excellence at the highest levels of people management practice.

John Brennan, CEO of Jurys Inn adds: “We have a culture that focuses on developing individual employees through different roles and giving them opportunities to step up and reach their full potential. With any position at Jurys Inn comes the opportunity to build a life-long career and there is potential for everyone to progress to management level.”
