Following the first day of the Hotel Booking Agents Association’s (HBAA) Annual Forum at the Twickenham Experience (5 September), the association held the HBAA Awards at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow.
The Awards recognised excellence within the accommodation, meetings and event procurement business with four coveted categories:
Accommodation Agent of the Year, Meetings Agent of the year, Account Manager of the Year, and the John Rees Community Award.
The HBAA’s Chairman Chris Parnham and Executive Director Juliet Price announced the winners to 280 members and industry colleagues.
Accommodation Agent of the Year – PHR Limited
Meetings Agent of the Year – First Choice Conference & Events
Account Manager of the Year – Chris Ellis Accor
The John Rees Community Award – Trinity Event Solutions.
Entrants for Accommodation Agent of the Year were decided by their BDRC ranking, with test calls to assess quality of service, effective processing, clarity of communication and market knowledge; the cost of entry was covered by the HBAA as a membership benefit. The outcomes of the Meetings Agent of the Year and Account Manager of the Year categories were judged by member votes.
The John Rees Community Award recognises the contribution made by any member organisation or individual within their local community, and is sponsored by Travel Services, whose founder John Rees passed away in 2011. Winners Trinity Event Solutions were recognised for their impressive efforts for charity, which saw the company raise over £20,000 for three local charities. Trinity Event Solutions received a trophy, together with a donation of £100 made in John Rees’s memory to their nominated charity.
