UK hospitality and catering collection, The Lindley Group, which was acquired by US hospitality operator Centreplate in April, has recruited Nigel Hutson to fill the newly-created role of Operations Director Heritage in a bid to drive its Lindley Heritage business.
Hutson has 35 years’ operational, management and consultancy experience in the restaurant, museum, galleries and heritage visitor attraction sectors and will head up the Lindley Heritage division, which was established in 2011 to develop the group’s business across a broader base of leisure sectors.
The creation of the new role follows contract wins for the new business division, including The Hepworth Wakefield; Theatre Royal Bath; RAF Museum – Colindale; and Twycross Zoo.
For the past four years Hutson has run his own business, Hutson and Associates, providing consultancy services to a client base ranging from CH&Co and Company of Cooks to Historic Dockyard Portsmouth and Historic Royal Palaces. Prior to establishing his consultancy business, Hutson was the Divisional Director of Charlton House Restaurants where he was tasked with setting up a new operating division, now known as Ampersand, targeting commercial contracts in the museum, galleries and heritage visitor attractions sector in London and the home counties.
“I am delighted to welcome Nigel to The Lindley Group to spearhead our drive into the arts, museums, heritage and visitor attraction sectors,” says President of The Lindley Group and Executive VP of Centreplate, Adam Eliott. “Lindley Heritage has made good progress in the two-and-a-half years since it was formed, achieving in excess of £60m worth of long-term contract wins and extensions.
“Now, with the backing of Centreplate, the heritage division is poised to embark on the next major phase of its development and we have created this new senior management role to focus on achieving our ambitious plans in these specific sectors. Nigel has a wealth of experience as well as established contacts in the sectors Lindley Heritage is seeking to serve, making him perfectly equipped to take the helm at Lindley Heritage and steer its future expansion,” he says.
