London-based events and communications agency Live Union floated its first ‘Ideas Exchange’ on The Thames last week, aboard the Silver Sturgeon.
Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts served up lunch for 10 senior corporate event and communication directors during a day designed to gather and share best practice and discuss the key challenges facing corporate event activity past and present.
Brands attending the event included Goldman Sachs, Anglo American, RSA, RBS, Ford, Visa Europe and Scottish Water.
In addition to the corporate guests, representatives from the events industry included Jane Hague, President of The International Special Event Society (ISES), Tom Woods, MD of Woods’ Silver Fleet and Nigel Harris, MD of Fabulous Feasts.
The range of topics covered included how to optimise event activity to resolve business communication challenges; how to validate the value of event-based communications activity to corporate leadership; the adoption and efficacy of digital components into events, as well as sharing ways that events have been deployed to address key business challenges.
Jez Paxman, Strategy Director at Live Union, said: “Live Union is a growing and ambitious business that believes in the power of content and engagement through live event communications. It is essential that we continue to develop the right products and solutions. To do so we need to better understand the challenges our clients and the wider event marketing industry face. This was the perfect forum for achieving this.”
Jane Hague, ISES President, added: “This was a lively meeting with much engaging conversation and information sharing across a wide range of industry sectors from automotive to corporate finance. While there were many differences in approach there was much common ground in the challenges facing corporate practitioners.”
One of the corporate attendees commented: “The Idea Bulb memento provided a great reminder that ideas are most effective when shared. The ’Ideas Exchange’ was both inspiring and informative and I greatly appreciated Live Union for arranging it”.
Live Union was founded in 2009 and clients include EDF Energy, TripAdvisor, AXA and Amnesty International.
A second Ideas Exchange is planned early in 2014.
