Former Eastsiders join London & Partners Business Tourism team

London & Partners, the Mayor’s official promotional organisation, has appointed Pat Holmes as Acting Head of Event Solutions and UK Sales and Rob Ellwood as Business Development Manager for Europe.
The key appointments to the convention bureau team are designed to bolster the strategy for attracting and winning new business events from UK and European markets for London.
Holmes previously worked as a Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) London Logistics 2012 Co-ordinator during last year’s Olympics. Prior to that, she was instrumental in raising the profile of East London’s business tourism offering at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, where she created the ‘London Eastside’ brand.

London Eastside worked on major bids for associations and corporate clients in conjunction with London & Partners, Excel London, and other stakeholders.
“I’m delighted to be part of the promotional organisation for London and to be able to channel my passion for the capital alongside using my transferrable skills and experience of regeneration along with business tourism and events,” Holmes said.
Ellwood is also a Tower Hamlets and Eastside veteran. At London Eastside and The View, an inward investment marketing suite, he managed a portfolio of 50 unique East London venues and hotels.
“I am thrilled to be joining the European team where I am able to utilise the nine years of business tourism and destination marketing experience I gained promoting London’s eastside. The Olympic Games last year certainly set the pace in establishing the Eastside of London as an exciting place to be, and I am delighted that this new role allows me go further to promote the whole of London as a vibrant, diverse and ever-evolving business city,” said Ellwood.
Tracy Halliwell, Director of Business Tourism and Major Events, added: “Both Pat and Rob have played a crucial role in London’s meetings and events industry and we are looking forward to keeping the momentum going and identifying new opportunities.”
