QHotels’ Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Resort in North Lincolnshire is offering free golf masterclasses to conference delegates attending events at the venue.
Forest Pines, one of QHotels 21 properties, hosted the Boys Home International Championship on 6-8 August and tendered for the 2015 Solheim Cup. The Broughton venue was the preferred UK venue put forward for the bid and won through to the final stage, before losing out to St Leon-Rot in Germany.
The annual Boys Home International tournament, however, was staged at Forest Pines and saw the UK’s best under-18 golfers compete for the R&A (Royal & Ancient) trophy. Established in 1923, the tournament has seen the likes of Rory McIlroy and Justin Hope play. This year Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales played a series of round-robin matches.
QHotels’ Managing Director, Michael Purtill, said: “It is a privilege to have hosted such a tournament to highlight the skills of the next generation of golf champions.”
The new, free one-hour golf masterclass for delegates is with the hotel’s golf professional, Dan Greenwood.
Group Golf Manager at QHotels, Andrew Cook, said: “A good golfer remains calm under pressure, thinks strategically and believes in themselves – these are all virtues in business, too. Our free golf masterclass will help delegates realise their potential both on and off the golf course.
“The Forest Pines golf course has also hosted the PGA 4-ball championships and the Euro Pro Qualifier, but this was the most prestigious event we’ve ever hosted.”
Set in 190 acres of woodland, the Forest Pines golf course has been ranked among the UK’s leading winter courses and boasts three nine-hole golf courses, covering 10,000 yards.
