Reed cancels Business Travel Market

Reed Exhibitions has cancelled the 2013 edition of Business Travel Market. The show was due to run during World Travel Market in November at Excel London.

The organiser issued a statement saying following “consultation with the industry”, it had decided to cancel the show.

“Due to tough economic conditions putting pressure on customers’ spend and time, we felt it was not possible to deliver an event that would do justice to both the industry and our customers,” said the statement.

“We thank all our customers and event partners for their valued support of the Business Travel Market.”

RTE acquired BTM in 2011 for an undisclosed sum at a time when the show was growing.

BTM had announced a new Advisory Board of suppliers and buyers last month to help its event management team shape a dynamic forum and develop greater educational content, networking and business opportunities”.

“The Advisory Board will be influential in offering independent insight and help us to put on the best possible event for the industry and our customers,” said Graeme Barnett, Event Director, Business Travel Market (pictured) on 12 June.

World Travel Market will celebrate its 34th year, involving 48,000 senior travel industry professionals, government ministers and international press.
