People 1st secure funding for NOS in Event Management review

Funding from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills has been secured by People 1st, the sector skills council for hospitality, passenger transport, events, travel and tourism.

The funding will allow People 1st to review and update the National Occupational Standards (NOS) in Event Management.

The review will ensure the NOS are:

  • Accurate and fit for purpose
  • Include relevant qualifications
  • Recognised at national levels across the UK
  • Approved for use in recognised qualifications across the four nations.

The Institute of Event Management and People 1st are overseeing the project’s progress and outcomes to ensure the review captures current practice in the industry and runs to time.

This is an opportunity for events industry professionals to ensure the revised NOS reflect the needs of the industry by taking part in the consultations either as part of a working group or through online consultations.

The working group will meet around four times over the period of the development.

People interested in joining the group or taking part in the consultation remotely can contact Clare.wheeler@people1st.co.uk.

The project will run from April 2013 to January 2014.
