Students from Leeds Metropolitan University have won the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) UK and Ireland Chapter 2013 Young Achievers Award. It is the third time the university has taken the title.
Three teams from Terbell, Leeds Metropolitan University and Greenwich University were asked to take on the role of the convention bureau in Bregenz (Austria) and St Gallen (Switzerland) and prepare a bid for a large scale congress. At the final, held at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London, the teams went head-to-head in front of a panel of five senior meetings industry professionals, led by Richard Parker from Zibrant, as well as Amanda Edgecumbe from Powwow, Chris Clarke from P&MM, Rob Eveleigh from TFI Group and Cladio Zemp from the Switzerland Convention and Incentive Bureau.
Now in its fourth year, the focus of the MPI Young Achievers Awards is to connect upcoming talent with the industry by providing the opportunity to meet key figures, network and showcase their talents and skills. The final was attended by corporate event planners, agencies and association heads, and was sponsored by Switzerland Convention and Incentive Bureau and partners St Gallen-Bodensee Tourismus, Bregenz Festival House and Convention Partner Vorarlberg.
The winning team from Leeds Metropoltan University was made up of Holly Glover, Olivia Pole-Evans and Faye Briggs, who won the Swiss Cow trophy and a trip to Switzerland.
