Leeds Hotel and Venues Association (LHVA) hosted the biggest familiarisation trip to ever come to Leeds. The Leeds Big Sleepover ran from 13 – 16 June and welcomed more than 150 conference buyers, event planners and media to the city, staying at over 30 hotels across Leeds.
The weekend was a showcase of all Leeds has to offer for business and leisure tourism and included a tour of the new first direct arena, hosted by Tony Watson, the Sales and Marketing Director of the arena. “It was a great opportunity to show the arena to so many people from outside the Leeds City Region, the atmosphere was fantastic and the delegates certainly seemed to be enjoying the hospitality,” he said.
There was a welcome reception held for all delegates at the Park Plaza Leeds hotel, hosted by the headline sponsors Grace & Tailor. The Rose Bowl at Leeds Met University was the location for a ‘Flavour of Leeds’ where all the hosting hotels and venues showcased their facilities and gave the delegates a‘very visual’ good old Yorkshire welcome.
Gordon Jackson, Chairman of the LHVA, said: “The Leeds Big Sleepover started out as an idea during a meeting of the executive team last year, we could never have anticipated the amazing turnout and fantastic feedback from the venues, the delegates and the media who attended. All enjoyed hosted lunches, teambuilding events, dinners, pampering and the opportunity to network at some key hub events in a relaxed yet informative atmosphere.”
The Leeds Hotel & Venues Association also launched their brand new conference website for Leeds at the Leeds Big Sleepover.
