Grass Roots appoints Richard Bandell as new Group CEO

Global customer and employee engagement specialists, Grass Roots Group, has appointed Richard Bandell as CEO.

Bandell will join Grass Roots on 1 August 2013. Previously with BI Worldwide, most recently as CEO of its China business, Bandell has a proven track record within the fields of customer relationship management; loyalty; database marketing; customer, channel and employee engagement; market research and events.

Bandell will be based in Grass Roots’ headquarters in Tring, Hertfordshire. His key role will focus on developing and implementing the Board’s vision and strategy for the business, strengthening the company’s position in the UK and overseas, and leading the senior executive team.

The Grass Roots Group Board will comprise the new CEO (Richard Bandell), COO (Andy Lister) and FD (Russell Clutton), supported by a non-executive contingent of business and industry experts and representatives from major shareholder, WPP PLC.

Grass Roots also hopes to appoint a Sales and Marketing Director to the Board over the coming months.

Andy Lister said: “I am feeling positive about the future of our great business. We are continuing to achieve good results and remain resilient during tough economic times, but there is always more to do in order to be recognised as the biggest and the best in our markets. With Richard Bandell on board we are further supported for strengthening and expanding the company and the future is looking robust and exciting for us all.”

Bandell welcomes his new challenge: “The company has an unrivalled heritage in its industry, and it is a privilege for me to join as it moves into the next exciting phase of its development. Grass Roots still has enormous opportunities ahead of it, both in the UK and overseas. I look forward to working with Board colleagues and the talented and experienced teams across the business to help build on the outstanding work for clients upon which the company’s success is based.”

Grass Roots Acting Chairman, Nat Solomon, added: “The transitional period of change for Grass Roots is now coming to an end. With a new CEO and a stronger Board we have added to our existing solid and stable team of talented and experienced individuals, who will continue to steer this great company on to even better things. We welcome Richard into the family and I have no doubt that there are many more years of success ahead of us.”
