Aberdeen wins Low Carbon Network Fund Conference for 2014

The Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) and VisitAberdeen have won their bid to host the Low Carbon Network Fund (LCNF) Conference, which will take place on 21-22 October 2014.

The LCNF Conference is expected to attract 1,000 delegates and exhibitors over the conference’s two-day itinerary, and will appeal to those involved in, or wanting to be involved in, future networks provision in Scotland.

The Conference, launched in 2011, is run by the Energy Networks Association (ENA) on behalf of the energy industry as mandated by Ofgem. It was awarded subvention funding from the new Visit Scotland National Bid Fund, match-funded by VisitAberdeen.

This year’s conference will be held in Brighton and last year’s event was held at Cardiff’s Millenium Stadium.

“The LCNF Conference and our Smarter Networks Portal are vital to sharing the learning for the benefit of consumers,” Paul Fidler, Director of Operations at ENA, said. “With its history in energy and its growth in renewables too, Aberdeen is an apt location to host this conference.”

Brian Horsburgh, AECC’s MD added: “We are happy to welcome the LCNF Conference to Aberdeen, which has grown year-on-year and comes shortly after the Deep Offshore Technology Conference, also bringing 1,000 visitors to the area in October next year.”
