Pedometer Challenge for Seasoned Events

Caterer Seasoned Events, part of the Crown Group, has taken another step towards achieving its eco-targets by undertaking ‘The Pedometer Challenge’.

The latest initiative has been introduced to reduce the reliance on cars and public transport. After analysing the business mileage from 2012 a target of 150 miles has been set for staff and management to walk to meetings, trial meals and site visits. This will be measured by staff carrying pedometers and recording the mileage covered when attending meetings.

Seasoned Events says the initiative allows the company to become a greener business and maintain its ISO 14001 accreditation for environmental management.

Having catered for over 65,000 guests in 2012, previous green initiatives have included managing the recycling of 85.2 tonnes of annual waste and increasing the amount of e-Tenders to develop a paperless business development channel.

“The whole team are committed to reducing waste and ensuring we develop a positive approach to our carbon footprint, one way of making it more fun and competitive is by setting a challenge that we can all take part in,” says Colin Sayers, MD at Seasoned Events.

“With so many of our meetings and events taking place in central London venues, it made sense to encourage staff to walk whenever they have the opportunity.”

Seasoned Events provides food and events management services to over 60 venues across London and the surrounding areas including the Guildhall, Hampton Court Palace, Banqueting House, Proud2, One Mayfair and One Marylebone.

Seasoned Events is also the sole food and events supplier at the Royal Courts of Justice, Leander Club, and Tower Bridge Walkways.
