Four-star icing on Best Western Kendal’s cake

The independently-owned Best Western Plus Castle Green Hotel in Kendal has added a four-star grading from the AA to a set of awards won in recent weeks.
The 99-bedroom hotel in the Lake District, gained the four-star rating with a merit score of 77 per cent in the recent AA inspection and retained its two AA Rosette Award for The Greenhouse Restaurant. A programme of refurbishment over the last two years has refreshed bedrooms and meeting spaces and seen the installation of a new reception area.
The hotel also this year won the Best Western Best Conference Venue and the Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Award. It is also a nominee for Cumbria’s Best Large Hotel of the Year 2013.
Best Western Plus Castle Green Hotel’s MD Tim Rumney described the latest, four-star award as “very much the icing on the cake to the last few months”.

“We took a conscious decision that this year we would concentrate on re-branding to a Best Western Plus hotel alongside achieving our four-star grading and we have achieved this much sooner than I had hoped for.”
