Restaurant cruise provider, Bateaux London, has retained the BS8901:2009 certification it gained last year. The certificate is awarded for sustainable practice in the management of events and requires Bateaux London to meet and pass an external accreditation process on an annual basis.
Last year’s accreditation was awarded to Bateaux London based on a number of initiatives including investment in energy efficient engines, a commitment to reduce energy consumption, and the integration of a green visitor charter to encourage Bateaux London’s guests to make sustainable decisions. Bateaux London also implemented a new sustainable ticketing system.
Bateaux London say they have further developed the standard this year, with auditors commending the strong waste management process in operation, the team training in place to oversee sustainable initiatives and the Marine Safety Management System.
“I am delighted that we have retained our accreditation,” says General Manager for Bateaux London, Andrew Stoddart. “On implementing BS8901 we initially found that much of our business activity linked to the accreditation criteria was already in place but this year we’ve been able to make significant strides particularly with documenting our sustainable practice and providing a clear direction for management.”
