Assembly Rooms Edinburgh appoints new business development manager

Historic events and conference venue, Assembly Rooms Edinburgh, has appointed Katy Heney as its Business Development Manager.
Heney has previously worked for such companies as the Heritage Portfolio, the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, Prestige Scotland at the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Radisson Blu in Galway and with Heritage Hotel Group in New Zealand.
Most recently she worked with Buccleuch Estates managing the development and sales of a new project to open up four historic venues within the estate of the 10th Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry for corporate events.
“We have ambitious plans for the venue and in her new role Katy is well placed to support us in taking Assembly Rooms Edinburgh to the next level of its development,” says GM, Shona Clelland.
The venue was recently named a finalist in the Best New or Refurbished Conference Venue category in the 2013 Conference Awards.
Edinburgh’s iconic Assembly Rooms reopened 20 July 2012 following an 18-month, £9.3m refurbishment. With over 500,000 sparkling crystals, glowing gold leaf and half a tonne of Zoffany damask curtain fabric used in the project, the 18th century venue has undergone a transformation.
