Alton Towers Resort enhances Wi-Fi coverage with The Cloud

New “super-fast” optic connectivity from BSkyB’s The Cloud has been brought in to enhance the wireless coverage at Alton Towers Resort.

With the aim to provide a free, super-fast connection to all visitors to Alton Towers Resort, The Cloud have worked with the attraction’s two hotels and conference centre to install a new fibre optic back haul with a circuit capacity of 100MBPS (megabytes per second).

Wireless Access Points have been replaced with a system that improves reliability and is able to handle an increased number of simultaneous connections with superior download speeds.

With the newly-upgraded equipment in place, the resort now runs on one system and one provider, meaning guests only have to create one login account to be able to access Wi-Fi, at more than four times the speed of the average residential broadband connection.

Wi-Fi coverage is now available throughout both hotels, the conference centre and the theme park.

The new Wi-Fi access means delegates will benefit from much smoother video conferencing, as well as enjoying access to cloud hosted documents and files and live content streaming.

Alton Towers Resort’s multiple event spaces allows it to host smaller meetings, conferences for 500 and awards dinners for 400 in the Alton Towers Conference Centre, marquee events for 3,000 or buy-outs for 5,000+ in the Alton Towers Theme Park.

The resort also boasts one of Europe’s largest waterparks, a spa and two nine-hole adventure golf courses.

The Alton Towers Hotel has 164 Discovery bedrooms and 11 themed suites. The Splash Landings Hotel has 216 bedrooms including two new pirate suites.
