UniSpace Sunderland celebrates 20% revenue growth

UniSpace Sunderland has announced a 20 per cent increase in revenue and a 40 per cent stake of the overall business tourism market in the Sunderland area in the month it celebrates its first anniversary since launching to the national and international MICE market at Confex 2012.

Since March 2012, UniSpace has won business from association and corporate sectors, as well as hosting events such as the North East Press Awards and the televised Pre Election Special Debate. UniSpace has focused on events that support the University’s core proposition, including pharmaceutical and life sciences business such as the British Pharmaceutical Students’ Association annual conference, the Pharmaceutical Networking Event for the North East and most recently the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee.

In 2012 year-on-year business from the pharmaceutical sector for UniSpace Sunderland was up 70 per cent with a 30 per cent rise in residential events at the venue.

“The last 12 months have been both busy and exciting for the team,” says Commercial Services Manager, Sharon Olver. “We have worked hard to establish UniSpace as a trusted brand in a relatively short period of time, focusing on customer service and unique incentives designed to add value to client events.”
