The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club hosted the inaugural Manchester United Foundation ’Dancing with United’, as football legends, stars of Strictly Come Dancing and Coronation Street plus a host of celebrity couples put on their dancing shoes.
Those taking to the floor included United icon Quinton Fortune, former Bolton Wanderers player Fabrice Muamba, Strictly’s Camilla Dallerup, Sky TV Presenter Jacquie Beltrao, Coronation Street’s Antony Cotton, Shobna Gulati and Jennie McAlpine and one of the stars of Strictly 2012 Lisa Riley.
The event was hosted by Angus Deayton and Ulrika Jonsson who were joined by a judging panel that included choreographer Arlene Phillips, dancer and choreographer Louie Spence and United legends Gary Neville and Nicky Butt.
As the couples battled it out to win the inaugural ’Dancing with United’ trophy the judges decided the overall winners were Antony Cotton and Lisa Riley.
“We are thrilled that the auction and raffle on the night raised over £30,000 for the Foundation, which will help to support our projects for underprivileged children in the local community,” said Chief Executive of the Manchester United Foundation, John Shiels. “Special thanks go to our hosts and judges but especially those that took to the dance floor and gave the audience a wonderful evening of entertainment.”
As well as entertainment on the dance floor guests were treated to a three-course meal, prepared by The Points catering team, and an auction of prizes including a dinner date with Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli at the River Café in London.
All proceeds from the evening went to the Manchester United Foundation.
