New appointments for GES as it expands office at Excel London

Exhibition and congress stand contractor Global Experience Specialists’ (GES) business outside of North America, GES, has announced three key appointments as the company celebrated the opening of its newly-expanded offices at Excel London.

Nick Marshall has been promoted to Executive Chairman of the GES EMEA operation. The role recognises Marshall’s increasing involvement in GES’ activities outside the UK, including the expansion of the European contracting business in Amsterdam, the establishment of an EMEA-wide logistics operation led by Phil Powell, and the continued growth of the Middle East business.

“I have worked with Nick for the past six years and his knowledge, experience and reputation are unparalleled in this industry”, says Jason Popp, Executive Vice-President of International at GES.  “This role will allow Nick the opportunity to provide focused attention on our key show organiser clients across all the geographies in which they operate, and to drive forward the synergies within our various operating units.”

Marshall was previously CEO of Melville (now absorbed fully into the GES brand) and has been in the industry since 1985.

GES has also appointed Andy Gibb to the role of Managing Director of the GES UK business. He takes on this role after serving as Chief Operating Officer at Melville GES for the previous year. Gibb will assume the day-to-day management of the UK operation.

Marshall said: “With Andy’s experience as both an organiser and a show contractor, he is uniquely placed to lead GES’ UK business. He has already made a big impact on the business during the past 12 months.”

The final appointment is the addition of David O’Connor as MD of GES’ European Contracting business based in Amsterdam. O’Connor was previously a principal at Resource Creative, which was acquired by GES in February.

“These new positions, combined with the recent appointment of Ted Bloom as Chief Commercial Officer of EMEA and Mark Eddy as European Sales Director, creates an organisation that mirrors our business strategy,” says Popp. “We are building global relationships with show organisers, event producers and exhibitors to execute their projects wherever they are in the world.”
