EventCity Live with Smart Hospitality

Following on from the announcement that Smart Hospitality has agreed a 10-year contract to be the sole caterers for EventCity in Manchester, over 400 guests descended upon the venue last week (14 March) to attend EventCity Live.

This special showcase event included a programme of tours, talks, live demonstrations and even entertainment with a ‘Nostrovia’ inspired Christmas Party ending the day with a bang. The event began with Smart Hospitality providing guests with a breakfast, including juices, smoothies and pastries. This was followed with a whistle stop tour of the conference, dining and events space via golf buggy.

As the day progressed, guests enjoyed a packed programme of activity with live food demonstrations and culinary challenges from the Smart Hospitality team, including a cook-off between EventCity and Manchester Central, dubbed ‘New School vs Old School’ with EventCity walking away with the crown.

Smart Hospitality Chef Ben Knell delved into the world of molecular food technology with a demonstration using deconstructed strawberries and cream, which was televised live through-out the venue. Later saw the 3 Egg Omelette Challenge, which was won by Rose Leach from Times Best Companies, who beat off some stiff competition including Amy Fletcher, partner of Manchester City Footballer James Milner.

The day also marked the launch of EventCity’s new 750ft kitchen facilities.

The day drew to a close with over 600 hundred guests attending an impressive Christmas Party preview in Hall 4. Getting into the festive spirit a little earlier than usual, partygoers found themselves transported to a winter wonderland beneath 30sq ft snow laden fir trees.

The ‘Nostrovia’ theme continued through-out the evening, with entertainment from Cirque performers and traditional Cossack dancers. A chandelier, complete with its own aerial performer served guests traditional Russian Vodka.
