ConferencesGroup signs up five new hotel groups

Hotel and venue finding service, ConferencesGroup, the umbrella brand for, and CorporateDesk, has signed up five new hotel groups: Puma Hotels, Principal Hayley, Jockey Club, Guoman Thistle and Accor.

“The meeting and events industry in particular, felt the strain of the economic downturn as businesses looked to cut back on corporate travel,” says Managing Director of ConferencesGroup, Simon Thompson (pictured). “However, while recovery remains slow, quarter one is certainly showing signs of improvement with new business levels exceeding expectations.

“Helping venues to adapt to meet clients’ changing requirements is a key focus for us in 2013. Early indications show that venues are embracing the impact of change and recognising price and value for money are the most influential factors,” he says.

The 54 hotels included in the new agreement with Accor predominately fall under Mecure and Novotel, Accor’s mid-scale hotel brands, which specialise in providing contemporary accommodation for both business and leisure travellers.

“We’re pleased to announce our latest partnership with ConferencesGroup as part of our strategy to primarily grow the corporate meetings and accommodation side of our business,” Chris Carr from Accor says.

In response to increased level of business activity, ConferencesGroup has employed two new members of staff, Vanessa Steel and Sian Green to help manage key accounts.
