Barbican to launch Milton Court at International Confex

A new event venue and part of the portfolio of venues managed by Barbican Business Events, Milton Court, is to be launched at International Confex.
Barbican Business Events will showcase Milton Court at the meetings and events tradeshow to event organisers, offering site inspections before it opens its doors later this year.
Milton Court is the Guildhall School of Music & Drama’s new building, part of a development that mixes living and working spaces with the performing arts. Both the Barbican and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama are provided by the City of London.
Milton Court will have a 608-seat concert hall with retractable seating, a 227-seat theatre, a studio theatre and a TV studio suite.
“Business events form an integral part of the funding model and having Milton Court available for corporate events will benefit both parties,” says GM of Barbican Business Events, Anthony Hyde. “Previously, the Barbican could accommodate up to 2,000 guests in the Barbican Hall, 1,100 in the theatre or up to 280 delegates in the auditoriums. But we occasionally missed out on medium-sized events as the theatre and hall were considered too large or the auditorium too small.
“Site inspections will enable us to show event organisers what the building can offer, and allow them to see the process of creating such a creative space and what they can achieve with their event in the Barbican’s unique environment where business is combined with creativity,” he adds.
