Twenty one of York’s conference venues, including several members of the York Hoteliers’ Association, have been meeting this week at the Mercure Fairfield Manor Hotel ahead of VisitYork4Meeting’s first ever ‘York Minster to Westminster’ business tourism showcase in London.
The event is hosted in the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday 13 March, where the York conference and venue representatives will meet face-to-face with over 70 invited event buyers from across Europe and the South of England.
VisitYork4Meetings is the business tourism arm of Visit York and Chief Executive Gillian Cruddas MBE, says: “This event is a great way to put York on the map as an excellent location to do business. The York Minster to Westminster event will provide a strong, unified message for all that York has to offer for business tourism.”
Lionel Chatard, General Manager of Middlethorpe Hall and Chairman of York Hoteliers’ Association, says he is proud of the way in which the association works closely with other venues across the city. “Together we are stronger and our voice is louder; our message is one worth hearing – so London here we come.” he adds.
The Westminster event begins late afternoon with delegates networking at The Houses of Parliament, before moving on to the Intercontinental Westminster Hotel, a former government building, for the venue showcase and Yorkshire-themed dinner.
This showcase is a key part of Visit York’s wider business tourism strategy, in partnership with Visit England; activity includes further development of the York Conference Ambassador Programme, a series of dedicated sales days and a programme of national and international exhibitions promoting York for business.
