VisitScotland has targeted over £4m worth of meetings and events business following what the national agency describes as its “hugely successful showing at Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Convening Leaders convention” last month.
VisitScotland said the event demonstrated further appetite for the destination’s growing global profile.
The exhibition was attended by over 3,800 global meetings professionals, including some of the biggest spenders in the international meetings industry.
“Scotland was a leading voice and had a highly visible presence at the convention,” said Kerry Watson, Marketing Manager, Associations. “We had some excellent meetings with senior buyers with a genuine appetite for Scotland, if we convert the excellent leads we generated in the US we’re looking at a £4m injection into the Scottish business tourism industry.”
Watson said the business interest was predominantly associations and ranged from enquiries for the highlands to destinations right across the country.
VisitScotland recently hosted the first PCMA Global Corporate Summit in Glasgow.
