Touch Associates enters Octopus embrace

Touch Associates, a Surrey-based agency launched by four industry heavyweights in January last year, has announced it has merged with Octopus Communications.

Paul Smith joins the Board of Touch and will focus on developing bespoke solutions for his own portfolio of clients. “Paul joining adds some extra sparkle to the Touch story,” said Touch Director Patrick Collins.

Touch Associates is also opening its first overseas office, in New Jersey in April 2013.

Touch USA will be overseen by Mike Ford and Colette Murphy, who both have extensive experience of US start-ups. “We will be servicing existing clients and building on long-standing relationships to provide high touch, high quality service,” said Ford.

Touch Associates claims to be “above target” for its first year, “with the agency moving towards a healthy profit, a stronger balance sheet and still no borrowings,” said Collins.

“What an exciting year; we have grown the business by adding eight new clients and increasing our team to 14 people, as well as continually investing in our future growth,” said Touch Director Nick Bender.

“Our philosophy is ‘If you believe in it, make it happen’, so we sacrificed some profitability to fund growth in targeted sectors, which involved recruiting several great people, including Maria Raimondi, Karen Brock, Caroline Wakley and Jo Murray, who bring significant experience to add to our operational infrastructure,” said Murphy.
