The NEC appoints Martin Clarke as NEC Venue Marketing Director

Martin Clarke has been appointed as the NEC’s Venue Marketing Director, a newly-created role.

Reporting directly to the NEC Managing Director Kathryn James, he will responsible for creation, ownership and delivery of The NEC Venue Marketing and Communication Strategy, working with the wider Group Marketing Services team.

He will be part of the senior management team that is responsible for the overall business performance of the NEC venue, along with the MD, Head of Commercial Finance, Sales Director and Director of Operations.

Clarke has been part of Team NEC since October 2012 when he joined as interim Marketing and Communications Manager for the venue, with his specific project focus including development of the new NEC brand. Prior to joining NEC, Clarke worked as Global Head of Sales and Marketing for a premium international schools company. Within that role he delivered a global re-branding project and devised the global corporate sales strategy.

“One of my initial priorities will be to push through the venue brand work we started last year, and developing the ’wow’ factor for the new brand positioning at the NEC. In addition I’ll be helping to drive forward our sales strategy together with the new business and sales team in the key areas of conference, live events and exhibitions. We host nearly 400 meetings and conferences every year, but our conferencing and live event capability has, in the main, been a closely guarded secret,” says Clarke.
