Event catering company Searcys has announced a deal to operate the new bar and brasserie at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre when it reopens in September 2013.
Searcys, which already operates catering and events business at the Champagne Bar at St Pancras International Station and The Barbican, will, in partnership with the Rep, service the refurbished REP’s hospitality suites which will be able to host between 120-150 people.
Birmingham Repertory Theatre has been closed for the last two years for refurbishment. The work has included significant improvements to the theatre’s bars and restaurants, which have been remodeled to be more open and accessible.
The REP will also gain a new 300-seat studio theatre, shared with its neighbour the Library of Birmingham, in addition to its existing 800-seat main auditorium and 140-seat theatre, The Door.
Commenting on the new partnership, Stuart Rogers, Executive Director at The REP said:
“We’re thrilled to have Searcys on board as our new catering partners. We’re looking forward to working with them to offer our customers the same level of quality that they already offer in such venues as Blenheim Palace, the National Portrait Gallery and the Gherkin.”
Searcys CEO, Doug Tetley said: “We strongly believe that Searcys strikes a great balance between retaining the traditional values of great service, sourcing and quality whilst adding dynamism and fresh thinking – that is exactly what won us this contract.
“We are very excited to be a part of the Birmingham REP’s development and have a presence in the UK’s second city.”
