Manchester to host Cardiovascular Society’s conference until 2018

Manchester Central will be the host venue of the British Cardiovascular Society’s (BCS) Annual Conference until 2018 under the terms of a new five-year deal.

Angie Robinson, Chief Executive of Manchester Central said: “I am thrilled that BCS has chosen Manchester Central.

“We have hosted this fantastic conference four times in the last six years, and we are now looking forward to welcoming BCS back every year from 2014 until 2018.”

The three-day conference and exhibition brings together consultant cardiologists, trainee cardiologists and other professionals in the field of cardiology, to enable them to keep up-to-date with developing technologies, pharmacology, diagnostic equipment and educational materials.

The conference attracts around 2,000 delegates and about 60 professional exhibitors and is expected to benefit Manchester’s economy by around £2.8m each year.

Steven Yeats, CEO of BCS, said: “We are delighted to be returning to Manchester Central in 2014 and look forward to a long working relationship. Manchester Central offers the right mix of conference facilities with the exhibition space that we require.”

Last year Manchester Central completed a three-year £30m redevelopment partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
