Manchester hosts destination showcase for national association buyers

Visit Manchester, The Midland Hotel and a number of the city’s business tourism service providers have hosted a weekend of events and activities aimed at attracting national association buyers to choose Manchester for their next event or meeting.

The Midland Hotel Gala Dinner and Manchester Showcase took place on 26 and 27 January and provided a unique opportunity for Manchester to talk up its business tourism product.

The weekend began with a Black Tie Gala Dinner at The Midland Hotel where guests were invited to sample the new banqueting menu in the Trafford Suite before staying overnight in one of the hotel’s bedrooms.

On Sunday, guests were invited to choose from a programme of activities to give them the opportunity to experience more of what Manchester has to offer. This included visits to Manchester Central Convention Centre; Science Busking at MOSI; climbing the spiral staircase to see great Abel on a Clock Tower Tour at Manchester Town Hall; and visits to Salford Quays and The Lowry centre.

The weekend concluded with a farewell lunch at the acclaimed Yang Sing restaurant which included a traditional Lion Dance ahead of Chinese New Year.

Over 45 buyers attended the weekend with representatives from the British Orthodontic Society, Galvanizers Association and the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals amongst many other associations.
